Overview
The creation of an editorial magazine investigating the difference between modernist and postmodern design principles. The concept began with research on David Carson’s experimental expressive typography and Josef Müller Brockmann’s disciplined grid systems. My aim was to merge these contrasting styles into a single editorial piece that challenged conventional layouts while maintaining underlying structure. The design process centred around pushing the boundaries of composition, imagery, and typographic hierarchy. I experimented with varying paper textures and typographic disruption to create contrast throughout the reading experience. Ultimately, the magazine reaffirms print’s tactile and deliberate nature acknowledging how digital technology has transformed typographic expression, allowing for new ways to interpret language and structure through editorial design.
